Our church is a very young church, mostly composed of college students.  In fact, Mat and I are probably the third oldest couple to attend the church!  The reality here in Zimbabwe is that middle aged is considered mid-twenties.  If you make it to 40, then you're considered old as you've surpassed the average life expectancy age here!  The average life expectancy age here is mid-thirties.
Anyway, our church put together a karaoke night where small groups competed against each other for prizes.  Our small group, composed of all the oldest couples in the church, has been painstakingly practicing for this night for about 2 months...we would choose a song, practice it, and then change the song for a "cleaner" song or for a better song that may win...We started off with "The Gambler", then "River of Dreams", then "Day-O", then "All for Love" and finally landed on Billy Joel's "For the Longest Time"...we had worked out all the vocals and harmonies to the song only to hear that we couldn't do it acapella, as that would not be karaoke, so we had to last minute add the background music and vocals to our performance, meaning that all the harmonies we had worked on were covered up by the background vocals.  Anyway, we got up and performed our piece, but in the end it was a bit cheesy and boring in comparison to the other groups!
Though our group did not win any awards, we were honored with a request to sing another song as a finale...so we sang "Ice, Ice Baby"...our pastor sang the first verse and handed the microphone over to me...I did my best rap that I could along with my best "moves" that I could, but couldn't keep up with the words, so I just began making up my own words and doing beat-box stuff into the microphone...the crowd went crazy...at the end they were chanting, "Kayle!  Kayle!" as they didn't know "I had it in me!"  It was quite hilarious (and a bit embarrasing) as some of our students in attendance got to see another side to their crazy lecturer...
