Today, we opened up the laundry room door only to find about 20 maggots crawling around on the floor! DISGUSTING! It was absolutely gross. As we began to clean up and sweep under/behind everything, we were mystified as to where they were coming from. We had never smelled anything dead in the laundry room. Was it coming out of the dog food? No. Was there some old rotten food under the deep freezer? No. Were they in our bags of sugar that were in the laundry room? No. Strange. Finally, we concluded that there must have been a dead rat somewhere as we had put some rat poison behind our washing machine. The rats had been chewing on the cords to the washing machine and the water pump so we were trying to kill them. Perhaps a rat ate the food and crawled somewhere to die!?!? Not sure why we didn't smell anything, but apparently the maggots found it before we did. SO gross!
