Yesterday, my friend Rumby called to say that her daughter, Juanita, whom Calvin solely played with on Tuesday and Wednesday, came down with the stomach flu! Right away I remembered that Calvin, who loves his food and other people's food as well, kept picking up Juanita's sippy cup and drinking from it. They also shared a bowl of apples together. I knew Calvin was gong to get it as well. Sure enough, he woke up this morning with sheets that had been vomited on and a diaper filled with diarrhea. Mat bathed him down and surprisingly, Calvin was in great spirits. He threw up two more times today and had lots of diarrhea and didn't really feel like eating. Rumby had taken Juanita to the doctor because Juanita wasn't keeping anything down and was throwing everything up. But after Calvin's two throw ups, he was fine and done so we decided to wait and see if his little body could fight it off.
But now I'm wondering about me. Will I get this stomach flu too? I remember back to yesterday when Calvin just kept grabbing my face to give me kisses. Then, if I do get it, I have visions of vomiting between contractions. I'm hoping I don't come down with the stomach bug as I'm due in 2 weeks. Perhaps I have some sort of "mommy immunity"! We'll wait and see!
