So I’m in a ladies Bible study group at church and we’ve been reading a book and discussing how to be better wives.  Each chapter has a specific area in marriage that we talk about.  As Valentine’s Day was coming up, I thought it would be nice to do something to celebrate, so we came up with a “Progressive Dinner” idea.  The women and their husbands first went to Sarah’s place where we had appetizers and sparkling wine.  She had beautifully decorated her place with candles, Christmas lights, and little cardboard heart “confetti” everywhere!  It was absolutely stunning.  We ate finger foods and enjoyed each other’s company.  Each person was to come prepared with a four lined riddle describing their relationship or how they first met, and the last line of the riddle was to say “Who am I?”  We read through all the riddles and had some fantastic laughs as we got to know each couple better and the “crazy things they did for love!”  Sarah gave all the ladies gift bags of chocolates and candies as we left.  The next stop was to our house for dinner.  I worked all day getting the table set (borrowing tables from here, matching water glasses from a friend, matching silverware from another friend, etc), cutting flowers and putting it in vases, arranging candles, printing individual menus for the evening, etc.  Meanwhile, Mat worked all day on the food.  We hired a friend from church to serve for the evening in order that we could enjoy the evening a bit more.  We had a wonderful salad, a homemade sorbet as a palatte cleanser, followed by stuffed fillet and lovely side dishes.  During this part of the evening, everyone brought their wedding photos and passed them around while we told stories of how we met and got married.  The final stop was Elizabeth’s house for desert and coffee.  Here we each wrote a “roses are red, violets are blue” poem to our spouses about ways which we would commit to loving them better.  All in all, it was SUCH a fun night of enjoying each other and getting to know each other better as well, as well as enjoying some of the “finer” things of life!
